Hello Zoners world-wide! Welcome to the Zone Icon. We are excited that you have interest in entering the contest. Yes, it is a contest! We want to find out who will, in the end, be our “Zone Icon”. We encourage all of you to enter. We all have some form of musical talent, so enter and see if you are what the judges are looking for!
All submissions will be uploaded to an ftp server. As such, we have set down some rules/guidelines to make this process easier for you, the contestant, and the judges. Please read over the rules carefully before submitting a selection for consideration. Once your selection is submitted, there is no turning back!
1. Zone Icon tryouts are open to everyone. Feel free to express yourself musically no matter how old you may be.
2. All contestants must have a broadband connection. This is so you will spend less time uploading your selection, and also; if you make it to the finals, you will need it.
3. It is important that all contestants have speakers. This is so that you may review your selection before it is submitted, and also if you make it to the finals; speakers will be a must. You can’t be a finalist without speakers. The judges will need to here you perform your selection if you make the finals.
4. All contestants must name there files using their Zone ID. For example: “user 1188 – I want it that way.mp3”. However if you need to submit in an alternate format, the following will due: ogg, mp3, and wav, though the wav format is less preferred over the others because of the excessively large file size, but will be accepted.
5. If a contestant wishes to perform a selection and does not have the karaoke version of it, they may email icon-support@zonebbs.com. We stress, however, that all efforts be exhausted to find the particular karaoke track before seeking help.
6. All contestants must be able to use recording software of some sort. Once your selection is submitted it is final. If you could not get it at the best quality, it is your fault. SoundForge, Sound Recorder, GoldWave, and so on are ok.
7. All submissions must not exceed two minutes. As such, perhaps you might want to do just a verse and a chorus of your selected song.
8. If you have written a selection of your own, feel free to sing a verse and a chorus of it. However, what ever you choose should show off your vocal talent to the best of your ability.
Remember people, we really want you to show off your best abilities when you send in your submissions. So, think long and hard about what you’re going to submit, because there will be no second chances to resubmit, unless there are extreme circumstances, and that will be at the discretion of the Icon support staff.

Because of certain complications, we had to change our FTP info, where you're submitting your stuff. The new info however, will be easier for all of you to remember, since the FTP server is now zone-based.
